Instructions for Self Isolation for those being screened for Covid 19
- If your results are positive OR you develop symptoms of COVID-19, you should stay home. Unless necessary for medical care, you should minimize contact with others until you have been feeling better for 24 hours AND have remained fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medicines for 24 hours.
- If your results are negative you most likely do not have COVID-19 at this time. If you have symptoms, you should continue to follow the recommendations for other respiratory illnesses and stay home until you have been symptom free for 24 hours or receive further instructions from your medical provider.
- If you need to leave home while you have symptoms, utilize a well-fitting face mask.
- Monitor your symptoms. If you experience shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, or any other emergent symptoms call 911 or go to the nearest ER.
- For the next five days after resuming your everyday activities, it is advisable to use a well-fitting mask, use air purifiers in your living spaces, and avoid being in contact with individuals at risk of severe illness and avoid crowded environments.
For persons previously diagnosed with symptoms of Covid -19
If you no longer have symptoms after your recovery, retesting is not recommended within 3 months after the date of onset for the initial Covid-19 infection. In addition, quarantine is not recommended in the event of close contact with an infected person.
Guidelines are subject to change.
