Scope Of Clinical Activities
BUHS allows primary care healthcare professionals to provide services to Baylor students to the full extent of their current knowledge, training, experience, and skills. Services will include:
- Well-woman and other gynecological exam
- Men’s health
- Routine physicals
- Acute illness or injury treatment
- Continuing care for some stable chronic illnesses
- Immunizations (also available to faculty and staff)
- Allergy shots
- Travel medicine
- Prescription refills with proper documentation
- Ordering and interpretation of laboratory tests
- Ordering of indicated radiological and EKG tests
- Procedures privileged per provider
- Documentation of patient assessments, test results, treatments and progress in the BUHS's electronic medical record
- Patient education, as indicated
- Referral to specialists
- Consultation services to Psychiatry, Physical Therapy and Counseling Services
- TeleHealth Visits for certain appointments
- Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)
BUHS allows psychiatric professionals to provide services to Baylor Students to the full extent of their knowledge, training, experience and skills. Services will include:
- Psychiatric assessment and treatment to include diagnosis, treatment planning, and pharmacotherapy of mental disorders
- Crisis intervention with established patients
- Medication management
- Limited psychotherapy in the context of ongoing active psychiatric medication management
- Consultation services to clinical staff in the Health Center and Counseling Center
- Ordering and interpretation of laboratory tests
- Ordering of indicated radiologic and EKG tests
- Referral of patient for specialized psychological and neuropsychological testing
- Referral of patients as indicated for psychotherapy, case management, residential care, emergency evaluation, and inpatient psychiatric treatment
- Patient education, as indicated
- Authorization of prescription refills, with proper documentation
- Documentation of patient assessments, test results, treatments, and progress in the BUHS’s electronic medical record
- Consultation services to clinical staff in the Health Center and Counseling Center
- Telepsychiatry
BUHS allows Physical Therapy professionals to provide rehabilitative services to Baylor Students, faculty and staff to the full extent of their current knowledge, training, experience and skills. Services are by referral and will include:
- General Orthopedic Rehabilitation
- General Neurological Rehabilitation
- Sports Rehabilitation
- Aquatic Therapy
- Consultation with primary care providers
BUHS allows Pharmacy Services to fill prescriptions from any licensed prescriber. Baylor students, faculty, staff and their dependents may use the pharmacy. Services are directed by the Medical Director and supervised by a qualified licensed pharmacist.
